Take a moment to review the Terms and Conditions for our events:

These Terms and Conditions (these “Terms”) govern each individual registration for and participation in the SAM International Business Conference In-Person and/or Virtual Event (the “Event”) and are an agreement between the Society for Advancement of Management (collectively “SAM”,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and Participant (“Registrant”, “Attendee”, “Participant”, “You”, “Your”, “They”). By registering and participating in any part of the Event, Participant represents to us that they are authorized to enter into these Terms. If any Participant does not agree to these Terms, such Participant should not participate in the Event. In the event a Participant is a Minor (as defined herein), all uses of the term “Participant” in these Terms shall also be deemed to include such Minor’s Guardian (as defined herein).

At any time, SAM may amend these terms without notice to Participant by posting the amended Terms on the event website. The continued participation in the Event by a Participant shall constitute acceptance of any such amended terms.

PRIVACY POLICY

The Society for Advancement of Management may collect, manage, and share Participant information in accordance with the SAM Terms of Service and all applicable data privacy laws and regulations.

CODE OF CONDUCT

The Society for Advancement of Management is committed to the elimination of unlawful discrimination in connection with all employment relationships, business operations and programs. Discrimination based on gender, family or marital status, race, color, national origin, military or veteran status, economic status, ethnic background, sexual orientation, gender identity, transgender status, genetic information or history, age, disability, political affiliation, and cultural and religious backgrounds is prohibited.

All Participants must abide by the following policies:

Expected Behavior:

  • Be considerate of those around You.
  • Be respectful of others and viewpoints that may be different from Your own.
  • Be mindful of Your words and actions.
  • Courteous, professional behavior is expected.

Unacceptable behaviors may include, but are not limited to:

  • Offensive or unwanted behavior or language related to gender, family or marital status, race, color, national origin, military or veteran status, economic status, ethnic background, sexual orientation, gender identity, transgender status, genetic information or history, age, disability, political affiliation, cultural and religious backgrounds, and any other protected categories under applicable law.
  • Intimidation, harassment, or bullying, both online and/or in-person.
  • Any other illegal activity not already covered above.
  • Failure to follow any of the rules or regulations of the event or instructions of the Event staff.

Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior:

Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated and could result in debarment from Event. If a participant is seen engaging in unacceptable behavior, SAM may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including expulsion from the Event without warning. If appropriate, local law enforcement may get involved.

Reporting Behavior:

If Participant is the subject of, or witness to any violations of these Terms and Condition, Participant can contact us by sending an email to [email protected]

If necessary, Event staff are empowered to take appropriate actions that may include, but are not limited to, debarment from the Event and/or involving venue security or local law enforcement.

PHOTOGRAPHY/AUDIO/VIDEO RECORDING/INTERVIEW RELEASE

As a Participant in Event, upon the terms herewith stated, Participant hereby gives to the Society for Advancement of Management, legal representatives and assigns, those for whom the photographer/videographer/interviewer/recording agent is acting, and those acting with their authority and permission:

The unrestricted right and permission to copyright and use, re-use, publish, and republish photographic portraits, pictures, presentations, videos, verbal/written feedback, voice or likeness of Participant or in which Participant may be included intact or in part, composite or distorted in character or form, without restriction as to changes or transformations in conjunction with Participant’s own or a fictitious name, or reproduction hereof in color or otherwise, made through any and all media now or hereafter known for illustration, art, promotion, advertising, trade, research, or any other purpose whatsoever.

Participant also permits the use of any printed and/or digital material in connection therewith.

Participant hereby relinquishes any right that they may have to examine or approve the completed product or products or the advertising copy or printed matter that may be used in conjunction therewith or the use to which it may be applied.

Participant hereby releases, discharges and agrees to save harmless the Society for Advancement of Management legal representatives or assigns, and all persons functioning under his/her permission or authority, or those for whom they are functioning, from any liability by virtue of any blurring, distortion, alteration, optical illusion, or use in composite form whether intentional or otherwise, that may occur or be produced in the taking of said picture and/or video or in any subsequent processing thereof, as well as any publication thereof, including without limitation any claims for libel or invasion of privacy.

Participant hereby affirms that They are over the age of majority and have the right to contract in their own name. In the event Participant is a Minor (as defined herein), all uses of the term “Participant” in these Terms shall also be deemed to include such Minor’s Guardian (as defined herein). Participant has read the above authorization, release and agreement, prior to its execution; Participant fully understands the contents thereof. This agreement shall be binding upon Participant and their heirs, legal representatives and assigns.

REGISTRATION CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS

Registration fees are non-refundable. You can transfer a registration to a new attendee by emailing to [email protected].

To cancel a registration, you can email the attendee’s first name, last name, and email address to [email protected] and we will make the cancellation for you. The attendee will receive a cancellation confirmation, and we will respond to you via email. We recommend you transfer your registration to another attendee as registration fees are non-refundable.

SAM is not responsible for duplicate registrations. If you submit a duplicate registration in error, contact [email protected].

COVID-19 SAFETY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, RELEASE OF LIABILITY, WAIVER OF CLAIMS, AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT

THIS IS A LEGALLY BINDING AGREEMENT (“Agreement”). Read it carefully before registering and consult with an attorney if you are uncertain about its terms. Changes are not permitted.  In consideration of being allowed to attend or participate, as a volunteer, employee, or participant (all of the foregoing collectively, “Releasing Party”) in any event held by THE SOCIETY FOR ADVANCEMENT OF MANAGEMENT, Releasing Party acknowledges and agrees as follows: 

COVID-19 SAFETY INFORMATION

Participating in, attending, or traveling to or from any events held or sponsored by The Society for Advancement of Management (“Events”) involves the risk of exposure to COVID-19. The Society for Advancement of Management cannot guarantee that its participants, attendees, partners, or others will not become infected with COVID-19. Further, participating in, attending, or traveling to or from any Events could increase your risk of contracting COVID-19. By agreeing to these terms and conditions,

I, Releasing Party, acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and that I may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by participating in, attending, or traveling to or from any Events and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death.

ASSUMPTION OF THE RISK

I, Releasing Party, acknowledge and understand the following:

Participating in, attending, or traveling, to or from Events includes possible exposure to and illness from infectious diseases including, but not limited to, COVID-

While particular rules and personal discipline may reduce the risk, the risk of serious illness and death cannot be eliminated.

I knowingly and freely assume all risks related to illness and infectious diseases, such as COVID- 19, even if arising from the negligence of fault of the Released Parties.

I hereby knowingly assume the risk of injury, harm, and loss associated with attending Events, including any injury, harm, and loss caused by the negligence, fault, or conduct of any kind on the part of the Released Parties.

RELEASE AND INDEMNITY

I, Releasing Party, release, waive, and forever discharge the Society for Advancement of Management and its affiliated partners and sponsors, including in each case, without limitation, their directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and agents (“Released Parties”) from any and all claims, demands, suits, liens, debts, damages (including but not limited to actual, compensatory, intermediate, punitive, special and exemplary damages) costs, expenses, attorney’s fees, and causes of action of whatever nature in law or in equity, in tort or in contract, in any way directly or indirectly connected with, related to, or arising out of participating in, attending, or traveling to or from any Events.

SEVERABILITY AND CHOICE OF LAW

If a court of law rules that any part of these terms and conditions are unenforceable, the remainder shall survive and remain fully enforceable. The venue of any legal action relating to these terms and conditions and any claims against the Society for Advancement of Management will be Florida. I agree that the laws of the State of Florida (without regard to any conflict-of-law rules) will fully apply to any dispute that arises between myself and the Society for Advancement of Management.

I represent that I have complete and absolute authority to bind, contract for and legally act on behalf of myself and understand and agree that the Society for Advancement of Management relies to their detriment upon this representation and would not allow attendance or participation in Events without this representation. I have had sufficient opportunity to read and understand this document and intend for it to be binding on me, and members of my family, estate, and personal representative. In the event a Participant is a Minor (as defined herein), all uses of the term “Participant” in these Terms shall also be deemed to include such Minor’s Guardian (as defined herein). 

By registering and attending the Event, Participant acknowledges that they have read, understand, and agree to all paragraphs in the COVID-19 SAFETY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, RELEASE OF LIABILITY, WAIVER OF CLAIMS, AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT and understand that they are waiving certain legal rights, including the right to sue.

MINORS

A “Minor” shall be defined as any individual who is under eighteen (18) years of age or has not reached the age of majority as defined by such individual’s jurisdiction of residence. In order to participate in the Event, including, but not limited to, admission into the Event and associated access, all Minors will need their own Credentials (defined as badge, ticket, wristband, or other authorized means of entry). In order to Participate in the Event in any way, a Minor must obtain the permission of their parent, legal guardian, and/or college/chapter advisor/representative (the “Guardian”) prior to any Participation, including, but not limited to, sending any information to SAM, entering any sweepstakes or contests in connection with the Event, posting any information on the Event websites or associated Platforms (defined as websites, software, social media pages, etc.), or purchasing any Credentials or other goods or services related to the Event. The use of Credentials by a Minor or any Participation in the Event by a Minor is a representation and confirmation that such Minor has obtained the consent of their Guardian. SAM recommends all Minors participate in the Event with their Guardian; provided however, that Minors under the age of sixteen (16) MUST Participate in the Event with a Guardian, and if such Minor attends a live component of the Event they must be accompanied by a Guardian at all times in and around the Event.

NOTE: It is a Guardian’s sole responsibility to check the suitability of the Event for any Minors in such Guardian’s care, regardless of any official age restrictions which may be described in these Terms.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

Except where prohibited by applicable law, The Society for Advancement of Management does not bear any legal liability or responsibility for the safety or health of any attendee participating in this Event. SAM disclaims any liability for the acts of any outside entities related to this Event. SAM reserves the right to cancel the Event without liability.

Each attendee shall be personally responsible for his/her behavior. The organizers do not accept responsibility for the behavior of any attendee or outside entity during the Event. The views expressed by Event speakers do not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of The Society for Advancement of Management. SAM shall not be liable for any delays or failure in performance or interruption of services resulting directly or indirectly from any cause or circumstance beyond the reasonable control of SAM including but not limited to, acts of God, war, terrorism, failure of transportation, weather, accidents, pandemics, fires, electrical failures, strikes, labor disputes, postal delays, explosions, and government orders or regulations.

Attendees at this Event agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SAM, its officers, directors and agents, against all claims arising out of actions or omissions of attendee at or in connection with this Event. To the maximum extent permitted by law, You (for Yourself, Your heirs, dependents, personal representatives, assigns, and anyone else who might make a claim on Your behalf or as a result of Your death or injury) hereby release SAM, and their respective directors, officers, employees, contractors, representatives, agents, successors, and assigns (collectively, the “Released Parties”), from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, suits, damages, losses, debts, liabilities, costs and expenses (including without limitation reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs) that You may have now or in the future associated in any way with the Event or the materials.

Except where prohibited by applicable law, SAM disclaims any and all direct, special, consequential, incidental, punitive or other indirect damages of any kind whether alleged as a breach of contract or tortious conduct, including negligence, or based on any other cause of action. 

As a condition of my participation in this meeting or event, I hereby waive any claim I may have against the SAM and its officers, directors, employees, or agents, or against the presenters or speakers, for reliance on any information presented and release SAM from and against any and all liability for damage or injury that may arise from my participation or attendance at the program. I further understand and agree that all property rights in the material presented, including common law copyright, are expressly reserved to the presenter or speaker or to SAM. I acknowledge that participation in SAM events and activities brings some risk and I do hereby assume responsibility for my own well-being. If another individual participates in my place, the new registrant agrees to this disclaimer and waiver by default of transfer.

The laws of the State of Florida without giving effect to its conflict of law provisions, govern these Terms and any dispute of any sort that might arise between the parties. Any dispute must be litigated in the state or federal courts located in Lake County, Florida to whose exclusive jurisdiction the Parties hereby consent.

Registering for and/or attending this Event acknowledges acceptance of these Terms and provisions of registration.
